“American Pie: The Magical History Tour” is returning — not as an in-person event, but at least as a full band presentation online today.
Last year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, only a few instrumentalists virtually accompanied a mix of student-vocalists who recorded their songs alone at home for the presentation. This year, about 110 people made possible the one-hour-plus production that will be live by 8 a.m. today on the cnhsmedia YouTube.com channel. The show can be viewed indefinitely, according to organizers.
Coordinator and veteran guitarist Jerry Mihay, also a Columbus North High School government and U.S. history teacher, put together the mix of 12 songs that highlight significant segments of American and world history from the 1950s through the 1970s. Now-retired Columbus North High School history teacher Ed Niespodziani launched the concert as a way to better his students’ interest in his history classes.
