Fruit and Grain, a farmer’s market favorite baker famous for its hand pie maker has landed a new commercial kitchen location inside Northern Coffeeworks. Eventually, the coffee shop at 1027 Washington Avenue South in Minneapolis, will also have walk up pie and hand pie pick ups available. Starting tomorrow, Fruit and Grain will begin taking Thanksgiving pie orders. Cakes and other treats will also be available for ordering ahead and, just like the farmer’s market stand, all the delicious treats are entirely nut-free.
Former Corner Table Chef Opens in St. Paul’s Highland Park
Karyn Tomlinson, the closing chef at Corner Table and star of Karyn’s Quarintine Kitchen on Instagram is opening a new eatery inside the former Bar Brigade location on Cleveland Avenue. Tomlinson will open Myriel. For now, comfort food meals are available to order ahead online and pick up at the restaurant.
The opening menu, that was available for pick up October 17 and 18, was pot roast and pot roast sandwiches on squishy buns. Tomlinson, won the national cooking competition Cochon 555 in 2018 with similar cozy, Scandinavian leaning dishes.
Hamburguesas El Gordo Now Open Off Selby Avenue in St. Paul
Hamburguesas El Gordo, the little local chain has opened a third location in the former Tori Ramen location on Victoria Avenue, just off of Selby Avenue (around the corner from J. Selby.) The tacos, Mexican-style burgers, and more are available for pick up through online ordering seven days a week.
Beloved Burrito Pop-Up Raises Funds for a Food Truck
El Norte Kitchen from chef Ben Allen has been a force in the pop-up world for the past couple of years, growing in popularity thanks, in part, to his burritos. Now, the chef is hoping to take the next step towards permanence and open up a food truck. A Go Fund Me page has launched and already garnered over $2,500 in start up cash.
