SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Hot dogs! Get yer free hot dogs here!
Plaza Colombian Coffee Bar has partnered with Easy Tiger and Hudson Meet Market to bring Colombian hot dogs to South Congress, officials announced Wednesday. To celebrate, Plaza Colombian will be hosting a special happy hour with live music to give free hot dogs to the first 50 patrons on Saturday (Aug. 29) at 5pm.
The next 50 people to order will receive half off and a portion of those proceeds will be donated to Austin Pets Alive! officials added.
These are not your run-of-the-mill hot dogs either. The new food stand will serve three gourmet hot dogs made with 100 percent beef, soft yeast white bread and all natural ingredients including:
- Tiki Dog — Wagyu beef sausage, pineapple sauce, caramelized onions, potato chips, red sauce.
- Street Dog — Wagyu beef sausage, mustard, relish, ketchup.
- Veggie dog.
The stand was part of the recent expansion to Plaza Colombian's outdoor patio, officials explained in an advisory. The space now allows Austin residents a full day to night transition with casual, authentic food available throughout the day. The hot dogs augment the newly upgraded menu that features arepas and empanadas as well as a variety of rum and mezcal specialty cocktails.

Despite this hotdogpalooza, Plaza Colombian is adhering to guidelines and regulations from local authorities in taking the following precautions to ensure the safety of guests and staff:
- Guests will be asked to wear face coverings upon entering, leaving or while moving about the premises.
- All staff will wear face coverings.
- Hand sanitizer will be provided and guests are encouraged to use it.
- The indoor space is currently closed. The outdoor space is constantly monitored to ensure social distancing between tables and customers. When table availability reaches capacity, customers will politiley be asked to wait for a table. Beer will be provided for 21+ customers waiting in line.
Daily specials include: Monday through Friday 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. $2 empanadas, $3 tall boy cans, $5 margaritas and Colombian Mojitos, $3 plantain chips, $3.50 local can beer, $5 burgers, $5 selected wines. Plaza Colombian is open Tuesday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to midnight; and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
