After a year when the nation had little to celebrate, The Pasta House Co. is embracing 2021 with reopened dining rooms and exciting new menu items to make this a summer to remember.
Welcome the new, ultimate summer salad
Among the new offerings is a salad that “screams summer,” said Jennifer Duerfahrd, Director of Marketing. “The new salad features spinach with mixed greens, grilled chicken, pecans and feta cheese, topped with our sweet Pasta House dressing and fresh strawberries,” Duerfahrd said. “It’s going to be a great salad in addition to our popular Pasta House Co. salad.
“It’s really something different that we’ve never had before. We’re known for our Pasta House Salad so we’re kind of going out on a limb here. But the Strawberry Summer Salad is so good that we want to offer it to our guests. We’re kind of competing with ourselves but we think it’s going to be great.”
Delight in a delicious new entrée and beverage
Three new main dishes top the restaurants’ new Summer Menu.
Linguine Verdura features pasta, grilled chicken and garden vegetables complemented by a white wine and garlic sauce. “That one is going to be delicious,” Duerfahrd said.
“Then we have our Shrimp Risotto, a creamy lemon risotto with Gulf shrimp and mushrooms.”
The third is Chicken Spiedini, breaded and grilled chicken topped with mixed cheese, fresh mushrooms, chopped prosciutto and white wine sauce.
To cool things off when summer sizzles, diners can enjoy the return of an old favorite drink — the restaurants’ signature Italian Stallion, a piña colada-strawberry daiquiri — and the addition of the new Mango Strawberry Margarita. Also on the summer menu is Sangria Toscano, a refreshing fruit blend.
The drinks come at a great summer price — $5 each.
A new appetizer and classic dessert
A new appetizer — fried artichokes — shines on the summer menu. “Hand-breaded artichoke hearts are fried and served with a lemon aioli sauce,” Duerfahrd said.
And how about a light and airy dessert to complete your summer meal? The Pasta House Co. is bringing back a favorite from years ago: the Cannoli, a tube-shaped Italian pastry filled with sweet, creamy ricotta cheese. The Pasta House’s version is studded with chocolate chips, candied nuts and a cherry for a scrumptious ending to any meal. The chefs tried several recipes before deciding on which one to include. “The one they chose ended up being the perfect combination,” said Duerfahrd.
“At $3.99 each they’re a steal,” she said. “You can’t even get them over at the bakery for that price. We’re excited about this one.”
The new items will remain on the Pasta House’s menu through August, Duerfahrd said. “None of them are going to be here in the fall. We haven’t really had new menu items with COVID. Now that we’re getting back in the swing of things and going into summer, we really wanted to start the feeling of that season.”
Curbside continues
Diners can continue to order online and pick up curbside. “Some people want that option,” Duerfahrd said. “It’s something we did not do before COVID but we don’t see any reason to get rid of it. Between delivery, online ordering, curbside pick-up, we have a bunch of ways people can get our food.”
All 19 Pasta House Co. locations are open for inside dining, and most are operating at full capacity. Patrons can earn free meals with points in Pasta House’s Frequent Diner Program. Enrollment is free. “We’ve been going strong for a long time with the Frequent Diner Program,” Duerfahrd said. “We’re coming up on 22 years with it.” Visitors who sign up to receive the restaurants’ e-newsletter get a free order toasted ravioli.
Delicious catering options
As the COVID virus continues to wane, The Pasta House Co.’s catering division is gearing up for happy social events this summer.
“We haven’t done much catering the past year with weddings, showers, graduation parties and other events getting canceled,” Duerfahrd said. “So we’re expecting to have a really busy summer. We actually did three weddings last Saturday just in one day.”
The Pasta House Co. has an entire catering division separate from its 19 restaurants, she said. “We can do an event any way the customer wants. We can supply all of the linens and everything from waiters and waitresses to bartenders or just drop off the food,” she added.
Customers can even order the new Strawberry Summer Salad when placing a catering order. “If somebody really wanted some of the other items from the new Summer Menu, we could probably make that happen for them, too.”
