When Drummond’s career began in 2006, she was only a blogger hoping to share her stories about raising four children with her husband. Drummond would post easy recipes that her family loved, and soon, people were itching for more content.

By 2011, she’d caught the attention of Food Network. Her show The Pioneer Woman premiered that year, and people loved that she created meals that were easy, affordable, and kid-friendly. These days, most of Drummond’s kids are out of the house, but audiences still love that her meals are often shaped around family. When her kids come home, she frequently features them on her show.

Ree Drummond’s one-pot pasta dish is the perfect weeknight meal

For Drummond’s pasta dish, you’ll need:
Salt and pepper
1 box pasta
1 cup asparagus, chopped into 1-inch pieces
1 cup snap peas
1 cup green beans, chopped into 1-inch pieces
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons butter (preferably salted)
1 tablespoon chili flakes
1 cup cherry tomatoes
2 garlic cloves, sliced
3/4 cup white wine
1 cup baby spinach
1 cup freshly shaved Parmesan
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn or chopped

Directions:
In a large pasta pot with a steamer insert, bring salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package instructions.

When the pasta has 4 minutes remaining, add asparagus, snap peas, and green beans into the steamer insert. Place it into the top of the pot and cover with the lid.

When pasta is done, remove both steamer and pasta from pot, but reserve one cup of pasta water, and dispose of the rest.

In the same pot, add olive oil, butter, chili flakes, tomatoes, garlic and some salt and pepper, and cook on high heat about 1 minute. Add white wine and 1/2 cup pasta water to the pot. Add pasta, vegetables, and spinach, and stir to combine.

Once spinach has wilted and sauce has slightly thickened (add more pasta water as needed), stir in Parmesan. Season to taste. Serve with basil garnish.

Many of Ree Drummond’s meals take fewer than 30 minutes to make

Drummond has made a living from creating recipes that are doable for anyone. Drummond doesn’t have any professional culinary training, and she once revealed that she enjoys that — it’s something that helps her better relate to her audience.

Most of Drummond’s dishes are quick to make; she’s done various specials that focus on her 16-minute meals — perfect for weeknights. And for those that take a bit longer, Drummond has plenty of simple, 20-minute recipes as well.
