Forget Vodka Pasta, The Internet Is All About Gin Pasta These Days - Delish.com

If you’ve ever tried Vodka Pasta, you’ll agree with us when we say it’s hella tasty. And if you’re yet to give it a go, here’s our Penne Alla Vodka recipe so you can go make it at once!

But once you’ve made it and tried it, you had better still be hungry as we’ve got another recipe that combines two of our favourite things: booze and carbs.

The internet is currently awash with people making Gin Pasta, and it is super-tasty.

Much like Gigi Hadid’s favourite Vodka Pasta sauce, Gin Pasta combines a delicious cheesy, tomato pasta sauce, but instead of adding vodka for a fresh, balanced flavour, gin is added in instead.

And thanks to Aldi, we have a recipe for Gin Pasta that uses the budget supermarket’s iconic Greyson’s gin. Plus, it costs just £3.65 a head if you buy your ingredients from an Aldi store.

Aldi

Ingredients:

  • 230ml gin
  • 500g penne pasta
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp. dried red chilli
  • 1 x 400g can chopped tomatoes
  • 230ml single cream
  • 100g Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 30g fresh basil, chopped
  • Pinch of sugar

Directions:

  • Cook your pasta according to the packet instructions
  • Add olive oil to a pan over a medium heat and add the onions, garlic, and red chilli flakes. Cook for approximately five minutes or until the onions are soft but not browned.
  • Add in the chopped tomatoes and cook for another five minutes.
  • Remove the sauce from heat and use a blender to mix the sauce until it is smooth.
  • Add your Greyson’s London Dry Gin and a pinch of sugar to the sauce. Bring to a simmer.
  • Simmer for 20 minutes or so until the alcohol cooks off from the gin. When it no longer smells like alcohol, it’s ready.
  • Stir in the cream, Parmesan cheese, basil and season with salt and pepper. Mix with the drained pasta.
  • Garnish with more Parmesan cheese, more fresh basil and serve.

That’s tonight’s dinner sorted then!
