Dan Patrick has never had a problem sharing the spotlight with his Danettes. The four guys on the other side of the glass that make up the show’s production crew have grown into characters on their own with opinions and bits that draw praise and criticism from listeners.
On Tuesday’s show, Patrick “Seton” O’Connor and Andrew “McLovin'” Perloff got into an argument over where they expected Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields to land in the upcoming NFL Draft. Patrick set the over/under on 8.5 as to which pick would be the one where Fields hears his name called. Perloff believes it will happen before. O’Connor believes it will come after.
If Justin Fields is off the board by pick 8, O’Connor will take a pie to the face. If he goes at number 9, Perloff will take a pie to the face. Hang on though, that is not the end of the bet. Perloff will take one pie to the face for every pick after number 8 that goes by before Fields is selected.
“If the Buccaneers take him at the end of the first round, that will be 24 pies for McLovin'” executive producer Todd Fritz said, referencing NBC Sports’ Chris Simms, who has Fields going all the way down at pick 32.
Dan Patrick did promise if the punishment does reach 24 pies, he will stretch out the action over two days. Perloff said that he was a little disappointed that his fellow Danette was not facing the same stakes. That prompted Patrick to scold Perloff for taking the bet if he didn’t like the terms.
The Danettes aren’t the only ones divided on Justin Fields. It seems wherever you turn for your draft information, there is a wide swath of opinions from the 49ers taking him at number 3, with the Mac Jones love being a smokescreen, all the way to the aforementioned Simms, who predicts Fields will be the final pick of the Draft’s first round.
