BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) ––– While many are egg-cited to get their easter plans underway and instead of reaching for those hot-cross-buns or crawfish, these area restaurants say to try adding pie to your menu.
“Pie is a good choice for Easter because everybody loves pie,” says Paul Dupre, Elise’s Plate and Pies owner. He says you can expect some seasonal favorites, “there’s a couple of them that we do that time of year that are seasonal that we don’t do the rest of the year so it’s just fun to get something different.”
Dupre says they will also offer a surprise flavor that you can get the Saturday before Easter.
But dessert pies are not the only kinds of pies you can enjoy this Easter.
Cara Peterson, the Culinary Director of Rocca Pizzeria, says, “pizza is still our biggest seller, hands down.”
But pizza may not necessarily fit with your meal plans, “if you talk to anyone in Louisiana, it’s all about the crawfish boil. So for us, it’s figuring out what we can do is to find some really nice pairings to go with people’s crawfish boils,” Peterson says.
Rocca Pizzeria offers Easter Bundles, designed to complement a crawfish boil or any other meals you may have planned.
Both restaurants say if you want to pick up any food for Easter, to have it done before they close on Saturday, April 3, because they will be closed on Easter day.
“We’re super excited to be a part of people’s families. You know, we were there for Thanksgiving, we were there for Christmas. Easter, we want to let everyone do what they know best,” says Peterson.
With COVID-19 precautions still in place, restaurants offer convenient take-out and curbside pickup options.
“We’re super fortunate and glad to have been able to
figure out some things to do with to-go food and family meals,” Dupre says.
