IT BEGINS AS CEREAL AND ENDS AS PIE
DEAR MELBA: My kids are Rice Krispie Treat fanatics. They probably learned this from their mother.
RICE KRISPIE TREAT PIE
Crust
• 1/3 cup butter
• 1 package (10 ounces) miniature marshmallows
• 6 cups Rice Krispies
In saucepan, melt butter and marshmallows and pour over cereal and stir together.
Use glass cup to press mixture into 2 buttered pie pans. Let set up while mixing the filling.
Filling
• 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 jar (7 ounces) marshmallow cream
• 1 container (8 ounces) whipped topping
Mix cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and marshmallow cream together and fold in whipped topping.
Divide equally into pie crusts. Garnish with whipped topping or grate chocolate candy bar over the top and refrigerate until ready to serve. Each pie serves 8.

JUST IN TIME FOR THE SUPER BOWL
DEAR MELBA: Here's a friend's recipe for party meatballs.
GLENDA'S PARTY MEATBALLS
• 3 pounds ground beef
• 1 large can evaporated milk
• 2 cups quick oats
• 2 eggs
• 2 tablespoons chili powder
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
• 2 teaspoons salt
• 1/2 teaspoon pepper
In large mixing bowl, mix all ingredients together with your hands and shape into balls. Put in 9-by-13-inch dish (the higher the sides, the better). Set aside.
In saucepan, combine:
• 2 cups ketchup
• 2 cups brown sugar, packed
• 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1/2 cup chopped onions
Mix well and bring to a boil. Pour over the meatballs. Bake in oven preheated to 350 F for 1 hour. Serve warm.
