Next to the McRib sandwich and the Shamrock shake, the McDonald’s Holiday Pie is perhaps one of the most unique specialty item the fast food chain has to offer.
The Holiday Pie’s cult following is real. And now, with the holiday season finally upon us, the seasonal dessert’s Facebook fan page (yes, it has its own Facebook fan page) is ablaze with recent sightings of the elusive vanilla custard-stuffed treat.
According to Delish.com, McDonald’s Holiday Pies are officially back, but they are only available in select locations.
For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of tasting a Holiday Pie (or aren’t familiar with what it is), McDonald’s official website describes the festive pastry as a “creamy smooth, vanilla custard nestled in a flaky, buttery crust glazed with sugar and topped with rainbow sprinkles.” The seasonal item was first introduced to the McDonald’s menu in 2012, Mashed.com reports.
When a Holiday Pie fan recently took to Twitter to inquire about the seasonal treat’s availability, the golden arches advised pie hunters everywhere to “holler at” their local McDonald’s franchise to find out if the item is on the menu, according to Delish.
At the time of writing, the Holiday Pie has been spotted in Indiana, Virginia, North Carolina and Michigan so far in 2020, per Mashed.com.
With the McRib sandwich receiving its first national release in over eight years earlier this month, one can only hope that the Holiday Pie will get the same treatment soon.
