CLEVELAND, Ohio – Red pasta sauce, white sauce, so many sauces to choose from! Which brand and flavor will you be topping your favorite noodles with in celebration of National Pasta Day? We’ve tried 201 different jars of pasta sauces, that’s right over 200.
Reporters Yadi Rodriguez and Brenda Cain spent weeks taste-testing 174 jars of tomato-based pasta sauces found at Northeast Ohio grocery stores, then ranked the sauces to help you decide what to buy.
We didn’t stop there. The Penzone family contacted us and we sampled its three sauces that are now being sold locally.
And a few weeks ago, in honor of National Linguini Day, we decided to give Alfredo sauces some attention and so we taste-tested and ranked 24 Alfredo sauces purchased from various grocers.
While some of us are still working from home, are we really simmering a pot of homemade sauce on the stove all day? While it is a nice thought, the convenience of being able to pop open a jar of sauce from the pantry makes for quicker and simpler meal prep, especially with so many great-tasting options on supermarket shelves.
If you have been to any grocer’s pasta aisle you know how large the range of options is. Whether you’re a fan of traditional red sauce or Alfredo, we’re here to help you choose a delicious noodle topper -- and help you know which ones to avoid.
