Here are five quick facts about NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. Wochit
Deion Sanders got his soul food fix.
Earlier this week, the newly-hired Jackson State football coach tweeted that he was making a trip to Jackson this week and that he wanted to stop by somebody's house for the type of soul food that "makes u sleepy."
He didn't get it from anyone's house, but he still got it. Sanders posted on Instagram late Wednesday night that he stopped by Sweetie Pie's to get his grub on.
"Ain't NO WAY IN THE WORLD you can talk soul food without 1st mentioning Sweetie Pies in Jackson Mississippi !" Sanders wrote in the post. "Ms. Robbie we love ya mama and my Momma @commaconnie21 Cussed me out because I went to see you without her!"
Sanders went on to say the staff and food at the restaurant was "excellent."
Sweetie Pie's garnered some unwanted attention in August when James "Tim" Norman, one of the stars of the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) reality series "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's", was hit with charges in an alleged murder-for-hire plot.
Ellis pleaded not guilty to the charges in September. Norman pleaded not guilty last week.
Norman's mother, Robbie Montgomery, was one of the workers who served Sanders at Sweetie Pie's this week.
But it sounds like Sanders enjoyed himself and will eat often at Sweetie Pie's during his tenure as Jackson State's coach.
