Abruzzo, the region east of Rome,  is known for rustic dishes featuring mushrooms, lentils or lamb. Abruzzi cooking often includes pecorino-filled crepes known as scrippelle, which are are served warm with a bowl of chicken broth.

Lombardia Region

This Northern region of Italy is known for hearty and decadent meat forward meals often loaded with butter. In many aspects, Lombardia cuisine has a lot in common with the food found in Austria and Germany. Popular dishes include osso bucco, breaded veal cutlets and polenta. Wines of this region tend to be deep and full-bodied like the ever popular Barolo.

Tuscan Region

Tuscany produces Italy’s finest Chianti Classico wines, such as Tenuta di Arceno Riserva. Tuscan foods focus on game meat such as wild boar and rabbit. Besides meat dishes, ribollita (vegetable soup) and various bean soups are also very popular throughout this region.
