CANON CITY — After coronavirus concerns forced two local charities to rethink fundraising efforts, new "pasta-bilities" have enabled them to keep up with the changing times.
Starpoint and Loaves and Fishes are partnering for a fall fundraiser affectionately dubbed "Pasta-bilities are Unlimited with Love-sagna."
While many nonprofits have postponed or canceled their fundraisers this year, the Starpoint Foundation and Loaves & Fishes have joined forces in a unique effort," said Ron Hinkle of Starpoint.
Starpoint, which serves children and adults with cognitive and physical challenges in Fremont, Chaffee and Custer counties, had to cancel its Forks, Corks, Farms and Chefs event but found a way to incorporate food and a worthy cause into the new fundraiser.
Staff at Loaves & Fishes, a charity that serves Fremont County residents who are experiencing homelessness and poverty by providing food, clothing, housing and programs, agreed to join the effort.
Community members can purchase a pan of lasagna, family salad and bread sticks for $50. The meal will feed a family in need.
Pizza Madness/Beyond Madness will be providing the food, while Red Ball Sales will be providing the pans, to-go boxes and prepackaged utensils.
Starpoint Foundation board members will pick up the prepackaged meals and deliver them to Loaves and Fishes. Loaves and Fishes staff will then deliver the meals to families.
Scheduled delivery dates are October 12, 19 and 26. Meal purchases or donations of any amount can be made by credit card at https://ift.tt/35vmXVh.
Donations will be accepted through Oct. 22. All proceeds will be split between Starpoint and Loaves and Fishes.
