Hot Fire Pie
A restaurant industry veteran launched a food truck July 20 with the opening of Hot Fire Pie. David Errico specializes in wood-fired pizzas at the mobile eatery at 2334 S. Campbell Ave., near Westlake Ace Hardware in Campbell Marketplace. Hot Fire Pie is the first ownership venture for Errico, who said he invested around $48,000 on startup costs. Errico said he began his food service career over 30 years ago and has managed restaurants in Stateline, Nevada, at the Water Wheel and Alex’s Steakhouse. He moved to Springfield in 2017 and managed a Jersey Mike’s Subs store before pursuing Hot Fire Pie. The food truck’s 10-inch pizzas are cooked in a brick oven at 800 degrees, Errico said, with prices ranging $9-$13.

Lenica Consulting Group LLC
Courageous Family Group, a home-based consulting agency, changed its name March 30 to Lenica Consulting Group LLC. Monica Horton is the owner and sole employee for the 6-year-old venture, which she said was certified July 10 as a minority- and woman-owned firm through Missouri’s Minority Business Enterprise program. Horton said she was motivated to apply for state certification when she learned only nine minority-owned businesses in Springfield were registered. She said roughly $300 was spent to pursue the name and logo change in order to better align with company services. The firm provides strategic planning, program evaluations and data analysis. Horton began work 15 years ago in the behavioral health field in Florida before moving to Springfield in 2013. She earned a master’s degree in public administration from Missouri State University in 2015, and she said the experience inspired her to start a business. Horton said Lenica is a combination of her first name and her husband’s, Leonard.

Missouri Job Center
The north-side office of the Missouri Job Center relocated Aug. 20 to The Fairbanks, 1126 N. Broadway Ave. Job Center spokesperson Katherine Trombetta said the community resource hub provides a better use of space to fit the needs of the agency’s customers. The Job Center formerly operated at 1443 N. Robberson Ave., in the CoxHealth Medical Tower, where it opened in 2016. However, the office had been closed since March 17 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Trombetta said the new office is smaller, at 990 square feet, and less expensive by about half, though she declined to disclose terms with the Drew Lewis Foundation Inc. It joins other Fairbanks tenants, including Springfield Community Gardens and Life360 Community Services. The Job Center also operates another Springfield office at 2900 E. Sunshine St. and in Branson at 2720 Shepherd of the Hills Expressway.
