I’ve been married to my Italian husband for six years now and I'm embarrassed to say I have never made him an authentic Italian dish. I excel at the art of Postmate-ing and the sport of dining out, but when it comes to cooking, I wouldn't say it's my strong suit. However, I am in my thirties now, so in addition to going to bed early, making to-do lists, and decorating for fall (you know, adulting), I’ve also started learning how to cook!
As you might suspect, my husband and I love Italian food, so I thought pasta would be a great place to start to learn the cuisine...and not just by boiling a box of it and throwing on a sauce, but to actually make pasta from scratch. I know, I know. It was ambitious, but you have to start somewhere.
I knew that in order for me to get this right I had to go grocery shopping at Eataly. If you haven't heard of it, it's basically a store where you can find any Italian product that you can’t find anywhere else. Once I did all my shopping it was time to make the PASTA...dun dun dun!
I know all of you are asking from home: “How did it go?” Let's just say it was so bad that the ingredients ran away from me. No, really. The eggs LITERALLY ran away from me.
Jokes aside, it was a rough start (to say the least), but I got the hang of it eventually. Watch the full video to see how it all came out and to see if my husband enjoyed it.
