During the first two months of quarantine, Omaha Steaks was a necessity.
Our local supermarkets in Brooklyn were not well stocked (and not well masked — and that includes employees). Our household felt safer virtually ordering meat from this long-running (100+ years) meat purveyor than heading out of the apartment.
While we’re back to our local shopping for now, we’ve kept Omaha Steaks — a prior winner of our blind-tasting Great Steak Debate — on rotation for not just red meat but chicken and sides, too. And when they throw a sale, it’s usually a better deal than braving Key Food.
And that sale is today; it’s the last day of “Halftember,” with various meat and fixings combos at 50% off. An example of one package is “Famous Fillets,” which features eight filet mignons (four are bacon-wrapped), four filet mignon burgers, eight jumbo franks, eight kielbasa sausages, four stuffed baked potatoes and some seasoning and butter sauce at $179. Separately, that’d be $359 (plus, carts over $139 qualify for extra free burgers or steaks).
There are also cheaper, meat-only packages, along with a few other multiple-meal combos (bring your own veggies). Overall, for a modest price, free shipping and some peace of mind, you’re getting superior cuts of meat. Plus a fat discount.
