MCAMEY, Texas (YourBasin) – Elena’s Kitchen has been a staple in McCamey for more than 10 years.
“When I got here 10 years ago, it had already been open a few years before that,” said Crystal Martinez, a waitress at Elena’s.
Joining me today is our game of the week reporter Jake Eichsteadt. We sat outside Badger Stadium for this week’s Final Score: Game of the Week, McCamey vs Forsan.
We try out two popular dishes that have patrons coming back for more. The steak ranchero and pepper steak burrito hit the spot.
“It’s the most popular one on our menu,” said Martinez. “You’d be surprised. We have a bunch of out of town workers here in McCamey right now due to the solar plants. They ask me, ‘what would you order,’ and I tell them, a 27 which is a pepper steak burrito.”
After trying the burrito, Martinez says they have the same people coming by almost every single day to order the same dish.
