A look inside the drive-up, virtual Polk Co. Democratic Steak Fry
On Saturday evening, the Polk County Democratic Steak Fry will take place virtually. Anyone can watch from home where they can hear Vice Presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Theresa Greenfield, Rep. Cindy Axne, State Rep. Ako Abdul-Samad and more. This year's event is drive-in. Volunteers with masks on will bring food to the cars. Vehicles are required to be 6 feet apart. The Polk County Democrats said they expect 1,000 people to be in attendance at Water Works Park in Des Moines. "I think it's important that we can get energized together," said Sara Schlievert, of West Des Moines.
