Yetur Gross-Matos Showcases Hot Dog-Eating Skills With Carolina Panthers - Onward State

Move over, Joey Chestnut. There’s a new glizzy gladiator in town.

Former Penn State football defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos showcased a once-hidden talent to the world this weekend: eating hot dogs. Gross-Matos and the rest of the Carolina Panthers’ rookie defensive line took home the victory in a recent hot dog-eating challenge against the team’s offensive line.

It looks like this wasn’t just a “bragging rights” competition, though. Through his valiant efforts, he received a pretty sizeable trophy for this achievement. It’s nothing like the Land Grant Trophy, but it’s a solid prize for gobbling down a couple franks.

We haven’t seen Gross-Matos on a professional football field yet, but it’s a good sign to see him already dominating one aspect of the game. Being able to shove glizzies down your throat under a time constraint is a very notable feat.

Such a monumental achievement warranted a hard-earned tweet from James Franklin, who never misses an opportunity to tout the fruits of his labor on the Internet.

The Panthers consistently referred to this as their “first-ever” competition, which surely implies more will follow in the coming years. Hopefully, Gross-Matos will expand upon his dynasty in the future.
