Citing the burdens of surviving both a pandemic and a “staffing crisis,” the owners of Peace of Pie, have sadly announced that the new artisanal style pizza parlor in Kill Devil Hills, is closing its doors. In recent days, several OBX restaurants have reported that they are reducing their hours or temporarily closing due to employees testing positive for COVID-19.
Here is the message to the community posted on Facebook by Fran and Lance Marler.
“Hey there Peace of the Pie friends and family! We would first like to start off by saying that we love each and every one of you. This place, the food and the experience wouldn’t be what it is without all of you and your support. We have laughed, cried, sweated and created some super sweet memories along the way. It is with THE heaviest of hearts, the tears are rolling as I’m typing this, that we must announce that Peace of the Pie is closing its doors. It’s hard to open a restaurant under the best of circumstances, but with the current pandemic, coupled with a staffing crisis we simply cannot sustain and move forward. As for us, we are going to take a deep breath, regroup and keep pushing on, because that’s just what we do. We love you all beyond words and look forward to seeing you around town and maybe even in the water. Here’s to a bright, healthy and happy future for all! xoxo, Fran, Lance and the entire Peace of the Pie crew!”
